  We really needed to replace the deck off the back door, so we got 2 prices from local contractors. Both of them were over $6,000, so we thought we'd just have to wait, then we were referred to Tom with Frugal DIY. We liked the idea of building the deck ourselves to save money, but had no idea where to start, and had absolutely no experience or skill in doing things around the house other than painting. Tom came out to see us and after a little more than an hour, we were believers! We worked on tearing out the old deck first and did that in one weekend, then started on the new deck the following weekend. A few hours each night after work and 3 more weekends and we were done! Tom showed us how to do every step, one at a time, and came back almost every day for a few minutes to see how we were doing. We built the new deck for $2,840. total, and ended up with a much nicer deck than we were pricing from the other contractors, and a few tools to keep too! I highly recommend Frugal DIY to anyone that wants to learn, save money and get more than they were expecting.
